Methodology
How we decide whether a destination is worth visiting.
Our Editorial Philosophy
No place suits everyone. A verdict depends on what you want from the trip, when you can travel and how long you have. We weigh cited sources, then explain who a place suits and who may prefer somewhere else.
What a Verdict Weighs
Verdicts consider these criteria and explain their limits:
- 1
Trip fit
What the place offers for different travelers, interests and trip lengths.
- 2
Timing
Climate, daylight, seasonal closures and busy periods by month.
- 3
Cost and access
Typical costs and how easy the place is to reach, citing operators where prices are given.
- 4
Alternatives
How the place compares with nearby or better-known destinations.
What We Don't Rank By
Understanding what we explicitly exclude matters for trust.
- ✗Affiliate commission rates
- ✗Paid placement
- ✗Invented visits
- ✗Unverified guarantees
Where Our Data Comes From
Our verdicts synthesize multiple signal types. We prioritize signals in this order:
1. Tourism offices and weather services
Official destination information and climate normals
2. Operators and venues
Timetables, opening hours, prices and booking terms
3. Attributed reporting
Published context with an identifiable source and date
Handling Uncertainty
When a source doesn't confirm a detail, the guide says so and points you to the operator page to check. We'd rather be clear about what is published than guess.
